3 Texting Best Practices to use with iRecruit TXT

Texting is available to all iRecruit applicant tracking software customers who would like to incorporate texting into their recruiting tools. iRecruit TXT allows our users (Administrators, Recruiters and Hiring Managers) to initiate conversations directly with applicants from the applicant’s profile page.

Here are some of the best practices we have found for texting job applicants:

  1. Keep it professional. Don’t use slang or text-speak when communicating with applicants. Unless you’re in a highly creative field, avoid emojis as well.
  2. Keep it brief. Texts should be concise and to the point. See some example texting templates you can steal.
  3. Respond promptly. Job applicants may be applying to multiple positions, so it’s important to be timely with your responses. You’ll receive any replies via your phone immediately.

As always, get consent first. Ask applicants if they are comfortable with being texted before sending them any messages. This should take place at the application stage.
